Scream 6 BTS Pics Reveals Surprising New Location With A Twist

Although many fans think – or wishing – this Cry 6 (2023) would not actually move forward as a result of Neve Campbell’s departure from the project, the film has almost completed production. And now we have our first look at the franchise’s surprising new setting.

Neve Campbell’s exit from Cry 6 it felt like yesterday – in fact, it was only two and a half months ago. And now, Cry 6 is already in the final stages of production.

Campbell has been a staple of the franchise since Wes Craven’s original 1996 film and has appeared in every sequel since. As such, Cry 6 will mark her first absence from the franchise, although many hope she will return.

However, the upcoming sequel will also be the first time that David Arquette’s character Dewey Riley has been absent from a Scream movie, as he was brutally killed by Ghostface’s killer this year Scream (2022).

So, Cry 6 will start on a fresh slate. Although it will serve as a direct sequel to Scream (2022), as it will see the return of all the surviving characters from that film (Bar Campbell), Scream now has a new home.

We’ve known for some time that the film will be set in Manhattan, New York, however, a number of set photos have been revealed for the new location.

But that said, it’s not Actually Manhattan, while filming took place in Montreal, Canada, which also serves as the Big Apple for the upcoming sequel. In any case, it will bring a welcome change.

MTLBlog.com revealed a number of photos on its website, which show existing stores and signage in Montreal that have been transformed in an effort to Cry 6is the frame of Manhattan.

A sign advertises ‘Le Domas Financial Group’ – which is a clever nod to the horror film Ready or Not (2019), directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the directors behind Scream (2022) and Cry 6.

The film revolves around a bride, played by Samara Weaving, who is forced to play a deadly game of hide and seek with her new in-laws. And recently, Weaving ended up joining the cast of Cry 6.

Other newcomers include Dermot Mulroney, Henry Czerny, Tony Revolori, Jack Champion, Devyn Nekoda, Liana Liberato and Josh Segarra, who, like Weaving, have been cast in undisclosed roles.

While New York City may seem like a huge leap forward for the Scream franchise, whose films are usually set against the backdrop of idyllic American towns, this isn’t the first time the series has dropped Woodsboro.

In fact, the only movies set in the California town are Scream (1996), Cry 4 (2011), and Scream (2022). The other suites – Cry 2 (1997) and Cry 3 (2000), are set in Ohio and Hollywood, respectively.

Naturally, not much is known about the plot of Cry 6but we do know that the survivors of the last film moved to New York, where a new Ghostface killer (probably two) emerges.

Cry 6 will be released in theaters on March 31, 2023.
