Machine Gun Kelly’s mic was apparently cut off mid-song at the end of his Osheaga set
Machine Gun Kelly took the stage on the last night of the long-awaited comeback of Montreal summer staple Osheaga. According Narcity Quebecthe singer gave festival-goers a rousing performance — at a very moment scaling up festival infrastructure — despite, he confessed to the crowd, not having eaten or slept in more than two days. But he might have finally had the chance to go a little early on Sunday evening.
Narcity reports that the singer’s microphone was cut off mid-song around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, about 10 minutes after his set was scheduled to end.
Videos posted by fans appear to show the scene go silent before a visibly confused Kelly turns around in search of an explanation. He finally seems to understand the situation, shrugs in disappointment, smiles and thanks the crowd before walking out.
The mic cut was apparently necessary to make way for the next performer, pop star Dua Lipa.
In one video, fans can be heard shouting Lipa’s name as Machine Gun Kelly’s music stops.
Reactions to the incident seem mixed. While Machine Gun Kelly seems to have gracefully walked away, some of her fans have taken issue.
Some Dua Lipa fans, meanwhile, seem to have been thrilled. A Twitter user (in a tweet unfortunately we can’t share this article) even jokingly suggested that the crew member responsible for cutting the mic deserves sexual favors as a reward.

We’re still hoping, at least, that Kelly had a good time after what feels like a hectic 48 hours for the singer. Ahead of his performance at Osheaga, he took to Instagram to say he “went through hell” to get to Montreal for the show.
