Hippo Campus Sings About Long Distance Relationships On New Dream Single “Bang Bang”

Hippo Campus has shared a video for their new single, “Bang Bang.”

The title is taken from the band’s upcoming studio album, LP3, out February 4 via Grand Jury Music. “Bang Bang” is a bubbly, dreamy song about long-distance relationships. Alongside the track, Hippo Campus shared a trippy animated video by Lachlan Turczan.

“I had been in a long distance relationship and I knew it wasn’t working,” says Jake Luppen of Hippo Campus. “But instead of talking about it, we ignored it. It was a situation where our attraction to each other caused us to overlook all the very logical issues that were at hand.

Watch the video for “Bang Bang” below.

“The goal of this project was to create an abstract visual language that synchronized with the energy of this song,” Turczan says of the video. “My inspiration draws heavily from the pioneers of visual music in animation, namely artists like Oskar Fischinger and Len Lye. It was also a nice challenge to incorporate the feel of the album cover into this piece so that everything exists like a ben-day halftone pattern on newsprint.
